Review: 2017 Nissan NV200 Compact Cargo Van

If you're shopping for a cargo van in Staunton that's easy to drive, gets great gas mileage, and fits within your business' budget, then look no further than Nissan.

With everything you need and nothing you don't, the 2017 Nissan NV200 Compact Cargo Van is a top pick among drivers in Virginia who need both value and capability. We hope you'll come in for a test drive, but first, check out our full review:

Performance and Capacity

The NV200 doesn't have the most powerful engine on the road, but what it lacks in horsepower it makes up for in fuel efficiency. Under the hood, it has a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission, meaning no jerky gear shifting that could cause cargo to move or topple. It makes 131 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque, and gets and EPA-estimated 24 MPG city and 26 MPG highway. Also, for a van its size, the NV200 has an impressive turning diameter at 36.7 feet, so you can easily maneuver during deliveries.

Inside, the two-seater van has flat wheel wells and a folding passenger seat to accommodate the most awkwardly sized cargo. Additionally, it features 20 cargo-mounting points and six floor-mounted D-rings to secure items during travel. There's enough room to lay flat a 40- by 48-inch pallet, and it has 9.7 feet of cargo length. Talk to your Valley Nissan dealer about the various options for shelving and partitions.

Safety and Tech

Since safety is always a concern, the Compact Cargo Van features standard Nissan Advanced Airbag system, Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control, Zone Body construction with crumple zones, window-mounted wire mesh, and the Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System. Additionally, it has available heated outside mirrors, halogen headlights, Rear Sonar System, rear privacy glass, and a RearView Monitor.

Comfort and Convenience

Both models - the S and SV - come equipped with air conditioning, pre-wiring for telematics upfitting, cargo area work light, cargo area floor protector, multi-functional trip computer, Mobile Office Style center console, 12-volt power outlets, AM/FM/CD, and auxiliary input.

If you're going to be spending some time inside your cargo van, you'll be glad to know it also comes available with NissanConnect with Navigation and Mobile Apps, Nissan Voice Recognition for audio and navigation, Sirius XM Traffic and Travel Link, hands-free text assistant, and Bluetooth tech. Additionally, you can opt for a Radio Data System, USB connection for smartphones, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and Bluetooth Audio Streaming.

For your comfort, both models of the NV200 have cloth seating with wear patches on the outer bolsters, 6-way adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support, 4-way adjustable passenger's seat, and a fold-down passengers seat with seatback tray table.
